Desert Garden at Beckman High School

Desert Garden at Beckman High School

I’m so honored to get to design this garden in memory of my former English teacher Tracey Ryan. Tracey loved being in nature especially the desert so we went with a desert theme - desert willow, apricot mallow, brittlebush, Palmer’s mallow, rose sage and showy penstemon. These new plantings will attract birds, butterflies and other pollinators all while saving water. The above photo shows for the before pic, plant placement and rendering. Thanks Donnie, Pierre and the rest of the team, and shoutout to Karen, Lori and Darren from this class of ‘08 alum!
